Kingston youths accused after victim repeatedly shot at, pepper sprayed
One local teenager has been charged and another is wanted by Kingston Police after a male victim – also youth – was pepper sprayed by one and shot at repeatedly by another.

The incident took place in Kingston’s north end, where the victim was shot at with a BB gun by a 16-year-old male and a 17-year-old male on Compton Street. Kingston Police received reports of the shooting at approximately 8:45 p.m., and officers responded to find the victim outside his residence. When police spoke to the victim, they were able to learn his identity, as well as that of the two youth suspects who had confronted the victim outside the residence, police said on Wednesday, Mar. 30, 2022. The 17-year-old had also pepper sprayed the victim at the time of the attack, police learned. Both of the male suspects fled the scene after spraying the pepper spray, according to police.
The victim, who had been shot at repeatedly with a BB gun, luckily only sustained minor injuries. He was treated on scene by Frontenac Paramedic Services, who attended the scene in advance of police arrival.
The investigation continued and, at approximately 10:10 p.m., led police to an address on Conacher Street where the 17-year-old male was located and arrested. He was subsequently taken to Kingston Police Headquarters, where he was later released on conditions with a future court day, police said. He is charged with assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace.
Meanwhile, the investigation continues, as the 16-year-old suspect remains at large. Charges of assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace against the younger teen are pending, Kingston Police said.
“BB guns or airsoft guns, if used to assault an individual which is what occurred in this case, are classified as weapons,” said Const. Ash Gutheinz, Media Relations Officer for Kingston Police. “Therefore, charges are laid accordingly.”
The two suspects and the victim were all known to one another, according to Kingston Police.
Officers continue to look for the 16-year-old male suspect, whose identity is known to police.
