Kingston youth charged with making death threats to local high school

A Kingston teen has been arrested and charged after threatening a local high school on social media, according to police.

Local police responded to a call regarding allegations of a “potential threat made towards Kingston Secondary School on Friday, Nov. 25, 2022. The threats were reportedly made by an unknown person via social media, Kingston Police said in a press release on Monday, Nov. 28, 2022.

Investigators from the Kingston Police Criminal Investigations Division were able to “quickly identify” the individual accused of the threats, “therefore mitigating any potential threat to public safety,” police said. Later the same day, police attended a residence in the north end of Kingston, where the accused youth was located and arrested “without incident.”

The youth, who was then taking to Kingston Police Headquarters before being released on conditions with a future court date scheduled. That 14-year-old has now been charged with uttering threats to cause death, according to police.
