Kingston woman facing multiple charges after driving impaired

A Kingston woman is facing multiple charges after a report of a possible impaired driver had officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) performing a traffic stop in Greater Napanee.
Just before midnight on Wednesday, June 3, 2021, the driver was reported to OPP after leaving a business on County Road 41 in Greater Napanee. According to a release from OPP, police observed the vehicle driving erratically on Highway 401 westbound near Deseronto road and initiated a traffic stop.
A Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was conducted on the driver. The driver was subsequently arrested and taken to L&A County Detachment for further testing. Police also seized suspected cocaine and two knives.
As a result of the investigation L&A County OPP have arrested and charged Josie-Ann Lofaso, age 28, of Kingston with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs;
- Two Counts of Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous purpose;
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance;
- Drive Motor Vehicle – no licence; and
- Operate a motor vehicle without insurance.
Lofaso was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on June 22, 2021. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. She will be responsible for all related fees and fines.
