Kingston woman arrested in Tyendinaga for impaired driving

Police responding to a report of a passed out driver ended up laying charges after finding that driver was impaired by alcohol.
Officers from the Lennox and Addington Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the report of a driver passed out in a vehicle at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019. According to the OPP, the vehicle was located at a business at the corner of Highway 49 and Slash Road in Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
Upon arrival, officers woke the driver and a Standard Field Sobriety Test was administered, which found that the female driver was impaired by alcohol.
As a result, Liana Smith, 49, of Kingston was charged with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired.
Smith was released on a promise to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019. Additionally, her licence was suspended, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. Smith will be responsible for all related fees and fines.
