Kingston road closures and traffic delays, week ending Jan 17 2020

The following is a selection of the most significant road closures and expected traffic delays in and around the city of Kingston for the week ending January 17, 2020. Full lists of closures and delays provided by the City of Kingston and the MTO can be viewed here and here.

Frontenac Street from Jenkins to Princess is closed until June 27 to allow for framing, masonry and interior work for 501 Frontenac St.

Expect lane closures on Highway 401 at Highway 38/Gardiners Road until November 2020, and delays of up to 10 minutes nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on the 401 westbound.

Jackson Mills Road from Bur Brook Road to 400m south (near the K&P Trail) will be reduced to one lane for roadside safety improvements. Both directions remain open.

John Counter Boulevard from Princess to Indian will experience increased delays until the summer of 2021 while crews construct a new four-lane road and rail overpass.

Expect minor delays on Leroy Grant Drive until mid-January as a contractor replaces a gas main on behalf of Utilities Kingston.

  • still mucking about with the stone age construction of the railway crossing on JCB for another two years minimum—- has nobody ever heard of building it with steel—-could have been finished years ago
