Kingston resident facing drugs, weapons charges after traffic stop in Picton

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged a Kingston resident after a traffic stop led to officers locating drugs, a weapon, and other prohibited items.
According to the Central Hastings Detachment of the OPP, officers conducting a traffic stop on Highway 62 in the Picton area of Prince Edward County (PEC) shortly after 12 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2023. The traffic stop and ensuing investigation led to a search of the vehicle, the OPP said, which turned up a number of different prohibited items and substances. Police seized a conducted energy weapon (commonly known as a taser), Canadian currency, suspected cocaine, suspected heroin, suspected methamphetamine, and “associated drug paraphernalia,” the OPP reported in a press release later the same day.
As a result, the driver, 32-year-old Kallie Leeder from Kingston, was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a Schedule 1 substance – cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule 1 substance – heroin
- Possession of a Schedule 1 substance – methamphetamine
- Possession of the proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Unauthorized possession of a weapon
- Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – heroin
- Possession of a Schedule 1 substance – methamphetamine
- Driving a motor vehicle with liquor readily available
- Possession of unmarked cigarettes
According to the OPP, Leeder was released from custody with a court appearance pending in early September 2023.
