Kingston resident charged with smuggling contraband at Collins Bay Institution

A Kingston resident has been charged in connection with the smuggling of contraband into Collins Bay Institution.

On Monday, Apr. 25, 2022, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)-led Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad in conjunction with the Correctional Services of Canada (CSC), began an investigation into the delivery of contraband items into the multi-level facility.

Amanda Forrest, age 24 of Kingston, was arrested and charged on that same date with breach of trust. Forrest lists herself as an employee of CSC on social media.

According to a release from the OPP, Forrest has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston in June 2022.

The investigation, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, is continuing.
