Kingston resident charged with impaired driving, methamphetamine possession

A local driver is facing multiple charges after members of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on County Road 14 in Stone Mills Township.
According to a release from the OPP, at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jun. 26, 2022, officers responded to the report and located the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was subsequently arrested and transported to the detachment for testing by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer, OPP said.
As a result, Lucas Charbonneau, 19 years old, of Kingston, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – drugs
- Possession of a Schedule I substance – methamphetamine
- Novice driver – blood alcohol content (B.A.C.) above zero
- Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor
Charbonneau was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee in July 2022. His licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. Charbonneau will be responsible for all related fees and fines.
