The solemn face of a soldier standing sentry at the Cross of Sacrifice on Remembrance Day 2019 perfectly encapsulates the sombre and moving Civic Ceremony in downtown Kingston. Photo by Lucas Mulder.
For many, it is a time to think of loved ones who served in the Canadian Armed Forces, be that decades ago or currently serving.
Remembrance Day holds a lot of different meaning for different people, but for everyone, it is a time to give thanks to those who have served our country, a time to remember those lost in service, and a time to reflect on the wars that have long seen arms laid to rest — as well as those currently ongoing.
Below is a collection of some of Kingstonists best photos from the City of Kingston’s Civic Ceremony, held annually at the Cross of Sacrifice, just off of King Street and overlooking Lake Ontario. Regardless of the cold, rain, and snow, hundreds of Kingstonians ventured out to take part in the ceremony, which was just one of dozens throughout Kingston and the area.
Lest we forget.
