Kingston Pride announces 2019 Parade Grand Marshall

Kingston Pride Inc. has announced the 2019 Parade Grand Marshall for the Kingston Pride Parade.
Rear Admiral Luc Cassivi of the Royal Canadian Navy has accepted the invitation to be the Grand Marshall of this year’s Pride Parade. Cassivi began his naval career in 1983 after time as a Royal Canadian Sea Cadet. Cassivi is currently the Commander of the Canadian Defense Academy which is headquartered at CFB Kingston.
Cassivi has worked throughout his career to create a more inclusive environment within the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and serves as the CAF’s Co-Champion for Gender and Diversity for Operations.
“Today, the CAF is lauded around the world as one of the most progressive military organizations, one in which every member is encouraged to be themselves and to grow in their career knowing who they love will be respected and honoured,” Kingston Pride said in a press release.
“Kingston Pride Inc., on behalf of the LGBTQ2S+ community of Kingston and beyond, welcomes RAdm. Cassivi and thanks him for showing his and the CAF’s true colours at this year’s Pride Parade.”
