The Kingston Police have been asked by Durham Regional Police to inform the community of an Oshawa man who is wanted on a Canada Wide Warrant.

Adam Odette, 37 years of age, is wanted for second-degree murder and attempted murder, and Kingston Police noted that this individual has, on previous occasions, attended the Kingston area.

According to the release from Durham Regional Police, at approximately 4 a.m. on Sunday, Mar. 12, 2023, members of East Division responded to an address on Simcoe Street, Oshawa for reports of an armed person. Officers arrived on the scene and located two adult females suffering from stab wounds. Police said that both females were transported to Toronto-area trauma centres where Katie Kainz, 26 years of age, had succumbed to her injuries. The second female victim continues to recover from life-altering injuries.

Members of the Homicide Unit are actively looking for Odette and would like to remind the public that anyone found to be assisting Odette to evade police is guilty of an offence under the Criminal Code of Canada and will be prosecuted to the full extent.

“Accessory After the Fact to Murder is an indictable offence and any person convicted can face up to life in prison,” Durham Regional Police said.

Investigators are asking anyone with information or video footage, including dashcam and home surveillance, to please contact police. Anyone with new information is asked to contact Det. Thorne of the Major Crimes Homicide Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5223.
