Kingston Police seeking details after suspect approached a teen at the Kingston Centre

Detectives with the Kingston Police are investigating an incident in which an adult male approached a teenager at the Kingston Centre and made an inappropriate request.

According to a release from Kingston Police, at approximately 8 p.m. on Friday, Jun. 7, 2024, a 15-year-old female was by herself inside a store located at the Kingston Centre, 1036 Princess Street.

“An adult male she had observed moments earlier in the parking lot, looking in her direction, came up to her in the toy aisle,” Kingston Police detailed. “The male asked the teen if she lived in Kingston and if she could make a recommendation on either a pub or a licensed establishment in town. He then asked if she would accompany him.”

The teenager, feeling uncomfortable, went to the front of the store and spoke to a manager, according to the release. Staff reportedly checked the area, but the male had already left.

“A description of the person and video surveillance footage was obtained,” police said. “The male is described as South Asian, tall, slim build, short hair, wearing blue jeans, blue or grey sneakers with white soles, and a blue t-shirt with a yellow graphic and white lettering on the chest.”

Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying this male or for any details on locations he may frequently attend. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Carolyn Gauthier via email at [email protected] or by calling 613-549-4660 ext. 6306.
