Kingston Police have released the above images and are asking for the public’s assistance to identify a female who took a newly delivered parcel from a doorstep in Kingston’s west end last month.
At approximately 8 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 14, 2022, a package that the complainant had ordered was delivered by a local delivery company to their west end home located in a residential neighbourhood behind the Frontenac Mall.
According to a release from Kingston Police, the home video security system at the residence captured video of the delivery van approaching while being followed by a smaller vehicle. After the delivery van pulled into the complainant’s driveway the other vehicle stopped and parked on the street, police noted. The delivery driver dropped off a boxed parcel at the residence, and he then left the area in his delivery van. The other vehicle, which had been waiting on the roadway, then pulled into the driveway and the female suspect exited, according to police. The security system captured her reaching into the rear driver’s side seat area of the vehicle, taking out a box and approaching the residence.
Police said that the suspect walked up to the complainant’s front door and took the recently delivered package while leaving the empty box which she had been carrying in its place. The suspect then proceeded to leave the property in her vehicle with the complainant’s package, according to the release. The complainant later discovered the empty box and, after reviewing video surveillance, contacted police.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian female with brown hair, wearing a red jacket. The suspect vehicle is described as a 2015-2017 Volkswagen Tiguan hatchback with the “Trendline” or “SE” trim level. It appears that the suspect vehicle is pepper grey metallic in colour.
