Kingston Police seek to identifying suspect who took purse containing charity funds

Kingston Police have released the above photo and are asking for public assistance to identify the male pictured, the suspect in an incident that involved taking a purse belonging to someone else.

The incident occurred on Sunday, Mar. 5, 2023, when the male entered a convenience store in the area of Princess Street and Parkway, just west of Portsmouth Avenue. Before this, the victim had accidentally left a small orange purse inside the store and, according to police, the male suspect spotted the purse that had been left behind. He is observed on security video from the store concealing the purse and leaving the location.

“The purse contained a quantity of cash that had been collected for a local charity,” Kingston Police said in a media release on Monday, Mar. 13, 2023.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male who is clean-shaven, with a medium build and greying hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a beige zip-up jacket and blue jeans.
