Kingston Police seek identity of female theft, break and enter suspect

Kingston Police are hoping that public assistance might prove helpful as they investigate a break and enter that occurred at a downtown residence while the resident was upstairs sleeping.
According to police, the break and enter occurred on Saturday, Jul. 17, 2021, sometimes between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. The victim, who had been sleeping in an upstairs bedroom, returned to the main floor of the residence to find that her purse and its contents had been stolen from where they had been left in the living room.
Police said it is unknown how entry was gained to the residence, however, an exterior entrance to the home may have been left unlocked. The stolen purse contained Canadian currency, bank cards, and other personal items.
Although the residence had no video surveillance and there were no witnesses to the break in, police investigation found that the victim’s bank card had been used at various retail stores and fast food restaurants from late in the evening of Saturday, Jul. 17 into Sunday, Jul. 18, 2021. Police then obtained security video footage, which showed a male and the female suspect in question making multiple fraudulent purchases.
The accused man was identified by police and, on Tuesday, Jul. 27, 2021, at approximately 4:15 p.m., he was located and arrested. The 48-year-old Kingston man was charged with:
- Break and enter
- Theft under $5,000
- Theft of a credit card
- Fraud under $5,000
- Breach of probation
Police are now trying to identify the female suspect involved and are asking for public assistance. The suspect is described as a Caucasian woman with a slim to medium build, and a fair complexion.
