Police are looking for the male driver of a black pickup truck after an incident of possible road rage ended in a hit and run in central Kingston.

According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 7:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Jul.6, 2021 on Bath Road just west of Portsmouth Avenue. The complainant was driving her vehicle westbound on Bath Road when she was suddenly confronted by the male driver in a black truck, who was also travelling westbound on Bath Road. Police said the male suspect driver pulled up next to the complainant and yelled at her while both vehicles were in motion. The man then slowed to pull in behind the complainant, where he struck her from behind before speeding off in what police called a “dangerous manner.”

“Witnesses observed the black truck racing further down Bath Road with another pickup truck before watching them both turn onto Days Road,” Kingston Police said in a press release on Wednesday, Jul. 7, 2021.

Police attended the scene and searched for the suspect with negative results. The complainant remained uninjured, however, her vehicle sustained moderate damages.

The suspect vehicle is described as being a “highly-modified, older, two-door, black GMC or Chevrolet pickup truck.” It is possible that the truck runs on diesel fuel, as it emitted a thick, black smoke and possibly had an exhaust stack behind the front cab, police said.

Anyone with information, who may have witnessed this collision, or who may have dash cam footage of the event is asked to contact Constable Sara O’Toole via email at [email protected].
