Kingston Police seek assistance to identify suspicious man who approached children

Kingston Police have released the above photo and are asking for public assistance in identifying the male pictured, the suspect who approached children in a north-end park.

Police said that the suspicious man approached children in a park located on Maccauley Street in the Rideau Heights neighbourhood on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022.

“After approaching the children in a park at this location, the suspicious male proceeded to make inappropriate comments and requests,” Kingston Police said in a press release on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022.

“The children were able to alert adults, who were nearby in the park, and the suspicious male then left the area.”

The male in question was described as being Indigenous, aged 20 to 35 years of age, with a slim build, dark hair, short facial hair, and discoloured teeth. At the time of the incident, the man was wearing a camouflage-print jacket, blue jeans, and dark shoes with light coloured soles. The photo above, police said, was captured by a witness following the incident, as the man left the park in the direction of Daly Street.
