Kingston Police seek assistance to identify suspected purse snatcher

Kingston Police have released the above images and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a purse-snatching incident at a local park.

According to a release from Kingston Police at approximately 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024, the victim, an 89-year-old individual, was sitting on a bench in the area of Bagot Street and West Street — the northeast corner of City Park.

“The victim had placed their purse on the ground beside them while they read a book. The suspect, who was riding a bike, snatched the victim’s purse off the ground and rode away,” police detailed.

In the release, the suspect is described as a Caucasian male, approximately 40 years old, with a puffy clean-shaven face. At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing a grey long-sleeved shirt with black sleeves, dark pants with a grey or green pattern and dark shoes, police relayed.

“The suspect was possibly wearing a hat underneath a green hood which was covering their head at the time of the incident. The suspect was last seen riding a blue bicycle north bound on West Street towards Bagot Street,” Kingston Police reported.
