Kingston Police have confirmed that a male is deceased following a large investigation on Montreal Street and John Counter Boulevard on the night of Wednesday, Jul. 27, 2022.

At approximately 10:15 p.m. that night, Kingston Police were called to the intersection of John Counter Boulevard and Montreal Street after reports of an unconscious individual at the location. Kingston Fire and Rescue and Frontenac Paramedics also attended the scene, with paramedics rendering aid to the victim, who was found unconscious and lying in the grassy area around the Tim Hortons location at the intersection.

Unfortunately, the man passed away at the scene.

As police carried out a subsequent investigation, John Counter Boulevard was closed to traffic from Montreal Street to Maple Street immediately, and was not reopened to traffic until approximately 4 a.m. on Thursday, Jul. 28, 2022. Area residents remained outside, concerned about the events, for several hours, some indicating there was a large amount of blood in the area where the male was located.

While initial reports on Wednesday night indicated it was possible the man was involved in a stabbing, when asked about those reports, Kingston Police reiterated that “foul play is not suspected at this time.”

Police confirmed that the man’s next of kin have been notified, and have requested that the deceased not be identified publicly at this time.
