Kingston Police respond to violent incident at Fraser and Patrick Street

Kingston Police remained on scene at a building at the corner of Patrick Street and Fraser Street as of 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, Jul. 6, 2023 following a report of a violent incident in which at least one person sustained serious injuries.

First responders were initially dispatched to the location at around 6:30 p.m. for a report of an assault with a weapon.

Neighbours say the assailant initially attempted to break into a vehicle and entered a townhouse at 375 Patrick Street, then exited and made his way to an apartment at 69 Fraser St, where he subsequently stabbed the victim.

The victim, a female appearing to be in her 30s, was taken to hospital with a stab wound to her upper torso.

According to Desirae Collins, who said she is a friend of the victim, the female in her 30s is in hospital and is expected to recover.

Kingston Police had largely cleared the scene by about 10:00 p.m. with the roadway having been reopened, but some officers remained on scene maintaining custody of the scene pending further investigation.

The condition of the assailant remains unclear.
