Kingston Police have released the above images from security camera footage and are requesting public assistance to identify the person pictured, the suspect in a recent break and enter in the downtown area.
According to police, the break and enter occurred at approximately 3 a.m. on Tuesday, Jul. 11, 2023, the suspect broke into a home in the area of Frontenac and Earl Streets, gaining entry to the house through a window facing the backyard of the property.
“Various items of value were removed from the home during this break and enter,” police said in a press release on Tuesday, Jul. 25, 2023, exactly two weeks after the incident.
Police said that, “after further investigation,” security video was obtained of the suspect. It is unclear why the images appear to show the suspect in a retail or restaurant setting (and holding ice cream in one of them). Kingstonist has inquired with Kingston Police as to why that is, but no response was immediately received. This article will be updated if/when that information becomes available.
Police described the suspect as having longer dark hair, with a full, dark beard, and a slim build. At the time of the break and enter and theft, the suspect was wearing a black baseball cap with a logo on it, a black T-shirt “with a distinctive circular logo,” and black shorts.
Anyone with information regarding the identity of this suspect is asked to contact Detective Mike Fleming at 613-549-4660 ext. 6318, or via email at [email protected].

Update (Thursday, Jul. 27, 2023):
According to Kingston Police, the security video stills above are, in fact, from a different location than the location where the break and enter occurred.
During their investigation into the July 11 break and enter at a residence in the area of Earl and Frontenac Streets, which involved the theft of multiple items.
“Initial officers located items that had been left by the suspect within the premise that had been broken into that did not belong to the individuals that resided at the home,” Constable Ash Gutheinz, Media Relations Officer for Kingston Police, said in response to Kingstonist inquiries.
“This led investigators, through further investigation, to review security footage at an alternate location in the city, which subsequently revealed images of the suspect.”
The investigation into this incident remains ongoing. Anyone with information pertaining to the identity of the suspect pictured above is asked to contact Detective Mike Fleming at 613-549-4660 ext. 6318, or via email at [email protected].
