Kingston Police, OPP recover body from water at Portsmouth Olympic Harbour

The body of an adult individual has been recovered from the water off the shore of Portsmouth Olympic Harbour, according to Kingston Police.
At approximately 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Apr. 6, 2023, Kingston Police were called to the Harbour by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), who were in the area conducting a “proactive search for a missing person,” according to Sgt. Steve Koopman, Acting Media Relations Officer with Kingston Police.
Koopman said that, while the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery carried out the recovery of the body with the assistance of local officers, Kingston Police also attended to offer aerial support by means of drone surveillance, as well as to secure the area while the recovery operation was underway.
The identity of the deceased person is not being released at this time, pending official identification and notification of next of kin. Police are expected to provide further information later today or in the coming days, Koopman said. Because of the sensitive nature of this incident, police are not releasing more information, pending the notification of next of kin.
