Kingston Police make arrest in two local thefts

Kingston Police have arrested and charged a local individual after an investigation into two thefts in May 2023.

According to a release from Kingston Police, on Monday, May 15, 2023, an officer observed the accused person with a newer bicycle that was suspected to have been recently stolen. The bicycle was seized for further investigation and later confirmed to be the reported stolen bicycle.

Nearly a week later, on Sunday, May 21, 2023, the same person climbed over a construction fence at a property near Sir John A Macdonald Boulevard and Johnson Street. According to police, the person cut through the locks of several storage containers and stole numerous tools valued at over $4,000. Police reviewed the security video and were able to identify the person.

The accused individual was located shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Friday, Jun. 9, 2023, at an address on Princess Street, police stated. The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing.

A 29-year-old local individual was charged with possession of stolen property, break and enter, theft, mischief, and two counts of breach of probation.
