Kingston Police have released the above images and are asking for assistance to identify the individual pictured, who was captured on security video inside a school in the west end of the city in the overnight hours.
According to a release from Kingston Police, on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, at approximately 4:20 a.m. a break and enter occurred at the school, and the suspect was captured on security video walking through the halls of the school before the arrival of security officers. Kingston Police did not state which school this took place at.
The following day, at approximately 10:50 p.m., the suspect returned the school and again committed a break and enter. According to police, on this occasion the suspect was captured on security video, for a second time, roaming the halls of the school and attempting to access locked classrooms.
“The suspect in this case appears to be Caucasian, with a slim to medium build and an average height. The suspect had short dark brown hair and facial scruff. During one of the break-ins the suspect was wearing dark-coloured shoes or boots and a brown jacket,” police shared. “During the other break-in the suspect was wearing a trucker-style baseball cap and dark-coloured shoes or boots.”
Although nothing appears to have been taken during these two break and enters, Kingston Police are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect involved.
After multiple readers reported a large police presence at Frontenac Secondary School over the weekend ending Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024, Kingstonist inquired with Kingston Police as to why multiple officers and cruisers had been reported at the high school. At the time, Const. Anthony Colangeli, a Media Relations Officer with Kingston Police, said that police attended the west-end school after a reported break and enter.
“The information [obtained by police] indicated that the individual may still be in the school,” Colangeli told Kingstonist on Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, noting that the Canine Unit attended Frontenac Secondary the day before, and had “cleared the school with negative results.”
Colangeli also told Kingstonist at that time that there was no indication that anything had been taken from the school, but noted that “officers will have to investigate further with the school in the event they discover something missing.”
Kingstonist reached out to Kingston Police to confirm that the break and enter outlined in the press release today, Friday, Jan. 26 (as described above), occurred at Frontenac Secondary School. Kingston Police did not immediately respond.
Anyone with information regarding the two break-and-enter incidents at a west-end school described above is asked to contact Detective Taylor Lauzon at 613-549-4660 ext. 6360, or via email at [email protected].
