Kingston Police have released the above photo and are asking for public assistance in identifying the male pictured, who is a suspect in a road rage incident.

According to police, the man also indicated he was a police officer, and had both items and apparel that resembled those of police, as well. The incident occurred on Friday, Sept. 17, 2021 when at approximately 7:05 p.m., a couple were travelling in their vehicle westbound on Unity Road towards Perth Road. The male suspect, also travelling westbound in his vehicle, began tailgating the couple, who could see the man yelling at them as he attempted to swerve his vehicle towards theirs, nearly causing a collision.

When the couple pulled into a parking lot of a business at the intersection of Unity Road and Perth Road, the suspect followed them into the lot. He then claimed to be a police officer and he was wearing a blue shirt with yellow writing on the chest that read “POLICE.”

“The suspect then displayed a police style collapsible baton and raised it over his head at them claiming that he was going to arrest both the complainant and her husband,” Kingston Police said in a press release on Monday, Sept. 20, 2021.

However, when the female of the couple advised the man she was going to call the police, he sped off in his car travelling westbound again on Unity Road towards Sydenham Road. Police were contacted and responded, however, they were unable to located the suspect or his vehicle.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male approximately 45 to 55 years of age, with a ruddy complexion, medium build, and long black hair, which was slicked back at the time of the incident. The complainant also observed that the suspect’s front teeth were either missing or visibly decayed, according to police.

The suspect was driving an older model Pontiac Grand Prix that was grey in colour.

Anyone with information in regards to the identity of the male suspect is asked to contact Constable Mike Fleming via email at [email protected]. Tips can also be made anonymously by calling the Kingston Police general number (613-549-4660 ext. 0) and requesting to remain anonymous.
