Kingston Police: Investigation into Montreal Street fire concluded

Kingston Fire and Rescue crews on scene the night of Thursday, Mar. 30, 2023, after a fire broke out at a home on Montreal Street.

Nearly a week after fire broke out at a residence on Montreal Street resulting in the deaths of two individuals, Kingston Police have concluded their investigation into the incident.

On Wednesday, Apr. 5, 2023, Kingston Police said their Criminal Investigations Unit has completed their investigation in a press release.

“The fire has been determined not to be criminal in nature,” police said. “The Office of the Fire Marshal are continuing their investigation into the source of the fire.”

With their investigation over, Kingston Police released the identities of the two individuals who passed away in hospital, having been rushed to Kingston General Hospital by Frontenac Paramedic Services in critical condition on the night of the fire, Thursday, Mar. 30, 2023.

According to police, 34-year-old Adam Crowley was pronounced deceased on the date of the fire, and 35-year-old Bonnie Demille passed away on Saturday, Apr. 1, 2023.

A GoFundMe campaign has been organized by Melissa Demille, Bonnie’s sister, to help with costs incurred as a result of the tragic incident.

Kingstonist will continue to follow up with the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office with regard to the cause of the fire.
