Kingston Police investigating homicide on Fergus St
The Kingston Police Major Crime Unit is continuing to investigate the homicide of a local 43-year-old Kingston man at a residence on Fergus Street near Concession Street in downtown Kingston.
“Kingston Police were initially called on August 12, 2021 at approximately 9:30 a.m. in regards to a weapons offence which had just been reported in the area of Fergus Street and Concession Street,” confirmed Kingston Police in a release.
Police say the deceased male victim, who was located by police at a Fergus Street residence, succumbed to his injuries as a result of a violent incident involving a firearm. The victim has not been identified at this time.
“Shortly after the incident occurred, an alert uniformed officer was able to execute the arrest of the accused nearby the scene of the original offence,” said Kingston Police.
The accused, a 20-year-old Toronto man whose identity Kingston Police have not revealed, was subsequently transported to police headquarters, where he was held to attend a bail hearing the same day and then was remanded into custody.
He has been charged with second degree murder, with probable firearms related charges to follow, Kingston Police said.

Anyone who may have exterior home video surveillance systems that would have captured video footage of the area of Fergus Street, Concession Street, Nelson Street, and First Avenue around the general time of the offence is also asked to contact the Major Crime Unit.
