Kingston Police investigating violent assault at Megaffin Park

Kingston Police are investigating an assault that occurred at Megaffin Park in downtown Kingston.

The assault occurred just after 1 a.m. on the morning of Friday, Jul. 12, 2019. According to Kingston Police Media Relations Officer Ashley Gutheinz, a female was violently assaulted, resulting in serious injuries. The victim was transported to Kingston General Hospital.

The ensuing investigation led to a male suspect being apprehended and arrested, Gutheinz said, and the investigation is on going.

The large police presence in the park and surrounding area is expected to remain in the coming hours as police interview witnesses and collect evidence.

Please avoid the area if possible, as there are multiple crime scene markers in the area as part of the investigation.
