Kingston Police investigating suspicious vehicle fire at Lake Ontario Park

At approximately 12 a.m. on Monday, Jun. 8, 2020, Kingston Police were called to Lake Ontario Park to assist Kingston Fire and Rescue with a call that began as a perceived wild fire.

Fire and Rescue were on scene first, and a vehicle was discovered as the source of the fire. Kingston Police arrived shortly thereafter, and the vehicle in question was completely burnt as a result of the fire. Those on scene witnessed the frame and remains of the vehicle, fully charred and entirely gutted, with parts of the vehicle loosely attached.

“The fire scene would be considered to be suspicious in nature and police are conducting a thorough investigation in an attempt to identify a suspect,” said Const. Ash Gutheinz, Media Relations Officer for Kingston Police.

No injuries have been reported as a result of the fire, and both police and the fire department continue to investigate.
