Kingston Police investigating suspicious interaction with child

Kingston Police are asking for the public’s help in investigating a suspicious interaction between a child and an adult in downtown Kingston.
On Wednesday, Feb. 8th, 2023 at approximately 1:20 pm, an unknown male allegedly approached a young student, under 10 years of age, while playing in a school yard in the 300 block of Johnson Street in downtown Kingston. “The male suspect asked the young child to perform specific acts in return for monetary compensation,” Kingston Police said in an advisory. “There was no physical contact between the male and the child,” police clarified.
The male suspect is described by Kingston Police as wearing a dark winter hat (possibly with a pom-pom) , Aviator-style sunglasses, a bandana/scarf covering a portion of his face, winter jacket, dark pants, black boots, and wearing a backpack. An age range of the suspect is not known, police said, but the male is believed to be an adult.
According to police, the male suspect travelled on foot in the area of Brock and Barrie Streets before and following the encounter.
Kingston Police detectives are continuing to actively investigate the incident.
