Update: Local man arrested – Kingston Police investigating suspicious death

UPDATE (Wednesday, Apr. 21, 2021):
Kingston Police have identified the deceased woman, and have laid charges against one local man after the discovering of a deceased body on the morning of Monday, Apr. 19, 2021.
According to police, the deceased woman has been identified as 37-year-old Amber Blain, and her next of kin have been notified.
Kingston Police executed a search warrant at the residence on Van Order Drive where the deceased woman was located. After that search, an in-depth investigation and an autopsy on the deceased took place, leading police to deem the cause of death as not criminally suspicious. Police have, however, charged one local man in connection with the incident.
Quentin Whan, 32, of Kingston, has been charged with with neglecting to perform a duty to a dead body under section 182 of the Criminal Code, as well as breaching various court ordered release conditions.
Whan attended a bail hearing on Wednesday, Apr. 21, 2021, where he was remanded into custody.
UPDATE (Tuesday, Apr. 20, 2021):
Kingston Police continue to investigate a suspicious death that occurred in the 100-block of Van Order Drive.
The police and Frontenac Paramedic Services were called to the address on the morning of Monday, Apr. 19, 2021. There, police began an investigation into the death of a woman in her 30s, according to the Kingston Police Major Crime Unit. The death has been deemed by police to have occurred “under suspicious circumstances,” police said.
“The woman was found dead in a residence and the investigation, now carried by the Major Crime Unit, continues with the assistance of the Coroner,” the Major Crime Unit relayed to Kingstonist in an email.
Police are not releasing the identities of the deceased woman and the involved parties, or the details of the circumstances surrounding the death, at this time.

Kingston Police are investigating a suspicious death on Van Order Drive. Police attended the area of the Van Order Place apartment complexes on the morning of Monday, Apr. 19, 2021.
“There is no further information that can be shared at this time. Anyone who may have information is asked to please contact the Kingston Police Major Crime Unit at 613-549-4660,” an email from Kingston Police Constable Ash Gutheinz said.
Several cruisers were parked outside the housing complex on Van Order Drive that morning , including the Forensic Identification Unit.
