Kingston Police investigating serious late night accident



Kingston Police are currently investigating a serious motor vehicle accident that occurred late Friday night in the central part of Kingston.
At around 11:52 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 14, 2022, Kingston Police, Frontenac Paramedics, Lennox & Addington Paramedics and Kingston Fire & Rescue were all dispatched to a vehicle accident with reported injuries at the intersection of Concession Street and Nelson Street.
Upon arrival, two vehicles were at the scene with heavy damage scattered across the intersection. Both vehicles were on the grass on the north west side of the intersection. Multiple ambulances arrived on scene as there were multiple patients to tend too. One patient was transported to Kingston General Hospital (KGH) as his injuries were reported serious.

Kingston Police have one male taken into custody at this time. His charges are currently unknown. An investigation is currently underway as the Kingston Police Forensics Unit and Kingston Police Traffic Safety Unit are currently working the scene as of 3:21 a.m. today, Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022.

Concession Street remains closed between the area of Kingscourt Avenue and Victoria Street as well as Nelson Street between the area of First Avenue and York Street while officers complete their investigation. The reopening time is unknown, however officers advise that this will be a prolonged closure and are advising motorists to detour.
