Update: Suspect arrested — Kingston Police investigating residential robbery involving firearm

Kingston police are continuing their investigation after a robbery occurred on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2020 at a apartment building on Leroy Grant Drive.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m., when the male victim answered the door of his apartment and the male suspect pushed his way in. Once inside the home, the suspect grabbed the female victim’s purse. When the female suspect attempted to intervene, the suspect produced a handgun and proceeded to threaten her with it.

The suspect then fled from the residence with the purse. Kingston Police responded to the incident, but the suspect was not located.

Update (Friday, Sept. 18, 2020) — Suspect arrested

According to Kingston Police, the suspect involved in the Tuesday, Aug. 18 robbery on Leroy Grant Drive has now been arrested and charged.

On Wednesday, Aug. 26, police located the man at a local hotel, and he was arrested immediately.

As a result, the suspect is now facing the following charges, stemming from the robbery on August 18 and his breach of court imposed conditions, Sidney Nute, 52, of Kingston, was charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Uttering threats to cause death
  • Assault with an imitation weapon
  • Use of an imitation firearm to commit and indictable offence
  • Assault
  • Breaking and entering
  • Possession of a firearm while prohibited
  • Breach of probation
