Kingston Police investigating body found in water

Kingston Police, Frontenac Paramedics and Kingston Fire & Rescue were dispatched to the breakwater area near Battery Park at the bottom of Gore Street on July 1, 2020 at approximately 4:00 p.m. after a member of the public observed the body of a young adult male floating in the water.

The deceased was retrieved from the water and Kingston Police detectives are working with the Coroner’s Office in their investigation. While the identity of the deceased is believed to be known, the name will not be released at this time under the authority of the Coroner’s Office until the scheduled autopsy is performed, appropriate family members are fully informed, and identifying details are confirmed.

While in the early stages of the investigation, Kingston Police say there is no information at this time that indicates foul play or suspicious activity.
