Kingston Police investigating after individual located deceased

Residents in Kingston’s north end have noticed an increased police presence in the Compton Street area of the Rideau Heights neighbourhood over the past two days.

According to those in the area, Kingston Police marked cruisers and officers have been seen canvassing the area and involved in an investigation since early on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023. Following up with police, Kingstonist has learned officers on scene on Compton Street are currently investigating after a person was located deceased.

“Kingston Police received this call on the morning of August 17th,” said Constable Ash Gutheinz, Media Relations Officer for Kingston Police, noting that the deceased individual was located in a residence on Compton Street.

“Kingston Police are working in conjunction with the coroner’s office to determine a cause of death, which does not appear suspicious at this time,” Gutheinz continued.

“Kingston Police would ask that the public respect the grieving family’s privacy during this joint investigation with the coroner’s office.”
