Situation resolved: Kingston Police conduct investigation north of Highway 401

The incident in the area of Sydenham Road and Sunnyside Road, which police reported less than an hour ago, has been resolved, Kingston Police stated. The previous advisory (below) has been lifted.

A portion of Sunnyside Road between 1553 Sunnyside Rd and 1527 Sunnyside Road remains closed while officers investigate the motor vehicle collision related to this morning’s incident, police noted.

“Police responded to a call for service in the area of Sydenham Road and Sunnyside Road this morning at approximately 7 a.m.,” Police said in a media release. “At the time of response one of the involved parties was outstanding. Police conducted a search of the area in order to locate the individual. At approximately 9:30 a.m. the individual was located and arrested without incident.”

According to police, the investigation is in its infancy and currently ongoing. Further details, specifically any charges the individual is facing, are not currently available. Police added that there was no risk to public safety.

Kingston Police are currently conducting an investigation in the area of Sydenham Road and Sunnyside Road. Early reports indicated that police were called to the area due to a motor vehicle collision, though police have not confirmed the subject of their investigation.

The public is asked to avoid the areas of Burbrook Road to Perth Road, including the Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area as well as Highway 401 between the Division Street and Sydenham Road exits until further notice, police said.
