Kingston Police arrest individual in connection with break in at downtown condominium

A local individual is facing charges after breaking into a residential condominium in downtown Kingston.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 18, 2023, security cameras captured footage of the accused using a flat-edged metal tool to break into the main entrance of the downtown condominium building.
According to a release from Kingston Police, once inside, the accused entered the main office of the building and proceeded to steal numerous courier packages that were waiting to be picked up by residents.
Police said that, through further investigation, they were able to identify the accused and, on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023, at around 5:25 p.m., police saw the suspect walking in the area of Nelson Street and York Street. Officers arrested the accused, who reportedly was combative with police while being taken into custody.
The accused was subsequently transported to police headquarters where they were held to attend a bail hearing the following day.
A 39-year-old local individual was charged with break and enter, possession of a break-in instrument, and theft under $5,000.
