Employees at two Metro grocery store locations in the Kingston Frontenac Lennox & Addington (KFL&A) Public Health region have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past week.

On Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020, an employee from the Metro Gardiners & Bath, at 460 Gardiners Road in Kingston, tested positive. According to Metro, the employee’s last day of work was Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020.

Meanwhile, an employee at the Metro at 35 Alkenbrack St in Napanee tested positive on Friday, Dec. 4, 2020. Their last day of work was reportedly Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2020.

“We will always contact and follow the guidance of Public Health to ensure the safety of our teammates and customers whenever we are made aware of a confirmed case of COVID-19 in one of our food stores or distribution centres,” said a statement from Metro.

“We will always do everything we can to support our teammates and ensure their safety, and the safety of our customers as well. Where required, we will communicate with customers who have shopped in the impacted location to manage the situation. Out of an abundance of caution, with each case that is reported, we will deep clean and sanitize the location,” they added.

Neither situation has been publicly identified as an outbreak by KFL&A Public Health.
