Kingston men arrested for copper theft in Napanee

Two men from Kingston have been arrested and charged for the theft of copper from Bell Canada lines in the Napanee area.
Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Street Crime Unit, along with those from the OPP Canine and Emergency Response Team apprehended the two Kingston men on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018. The men were arrested for committing theft and being in possession of stolen property. The copper was being removed from Bell Canada property, and an OPP canine was instrumental in the apprehension of one of the accused men, according to a press release from the Napanee Detachment of the OPP.
Devin Timothy Hamilton, 30, is charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Theft under $5,000
- Mischief – destroying or damaging property
Eric Zachary Sudds, 31, is charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Theft under $5,000
- Mischief – destroying or damaging property
- Possession of a Schedule 1 substance (methamphetamine)
Both Hamilton and Sudds remain in custody pending bail hearings.
