Kingston man charged with possession of child pornography

After over two months of investigation, a Kingston man has been arrested and charged with possession of child pornography.
The investigation was part of the Kingston Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit’s involvement with an ongoing Internet Child Exploitation project, which aims to detect and monitor file-sharing networks associated with child pornography.
According to Kingston Police, investigators identified over 300 suspected child pornography files on a computer connected to a file-sharing network. Police then sought and obtained a production order for the subscriber information, and the IP address was matched to the accused man here in Kingston.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, a search warrant was executed at the accused man’s residence north of the city on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at approximately 6:20 a.m. Police examined digital devices at the address, which revealed evidence of files believed to meet the Criminal Code definition of child pornography.
The accused, a 28-year-old local man, was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography.
