Kingston man charged after OPP seize drugs, cash, weapons in Deseronto

The execution of a search warrant earlier today has resulted in the seizure of a weapon, cash, and illegal drugs from a home in Deseronto.
The investigation was carried out by the Lennox and Addington County Ontario Provincial Police, working in partnership with the Lennox and Addington OPP Community Street Crime Unit. On the morning of Wednesday, Apr. 15, 2020, members of the OPP executed a search warrant at a Mill Street residence in Deseronto as part of an ongoing investigation.
During the execution of that warrant, officers seized:
- $3,310 in Canadian currency
- Suspected cocaine
- Suspected methamphetamine
- A 12-gauge shotgun
- Ammunition
- Bear spray
- Items used in the trafficking of street drugs
- Computer peripherals
As a result of the investigation, two men have been charged.
Nick Smith, 25, of Deseronto has been charged with:
- Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device, or ammunition
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5,000
- Two counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking
Paul Bridgen, 29, of Kingston has been charged with:
- Possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5,000
- Possession of a Schedule 1 substance (cocaine)
Both of the accused parties have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee in June.
