Update: Remanded into custody – Kingston man charged after luring 14-year-old girl online

The Kingston Police Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit has arrested a local man who is now facing 10 luring charges for his engagement with an underage female for sexual purposes.
Police announced the arrest and charges on Friday, Jul. 14, 2023, however, the man was arrested in late June, according to a press release from Kingston Police. Police indicated the ICE Unit “recently engaged” in an investigation into online luring activity. During that investigation, a 29-year-old made arrangements to meet with a 14-year-old female for “sexually related purposes,” police said.
This culminated with the arrest of 29-year-old Braidon Hockey of Kingston on Thursday, Jun. 29, 2023. The arrest occurred as Hockey was on his way to meet the 14-year-old girl.
As a result of the investigation, Hockey is facing 10 luring-related charges stemming from the online messaging with the child victim, according to police. Those include:
- Luring to facilitate sexual interference
- Luring to facilitate invitation to sexual touching
- Making sexually explicit material available to a child under 16 years of age
- Invitation to sexual touching
- Indecent exposure to a child under 16
- Adult agreeing or arranging to commit a sexual offence of a child under 16
- Breach of probation
According to police, Hockey was using the Snapchat username “Beazy” while making communicating with the child victim.
“The Kingston Police ICE Unit is asking if any other young person experienced an inappropriate Online interaction with ‘Beazy’ through the Snapchat application to contact the Detective Constable Matt Murphy of the Kingston Police at [email protected],” police said.
“This Project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.”
A cursory search of Snapchat revealed several profiles wih the username “Beazy.” Kingstonist reached out to Kingston Police to confirm which of those was the one connected to Hockey, as well as to learn the results of his bail hearing the day after his arrest, but Kingston Police had not responded to those follow-up inquiries by the time of publication.

Update (Monday, Jul. 17, 2023):
According to Kingston Police, Braidon Hockey, 29, of Kingston, was remanded into custody following a bail hearing at the end of June 2023. He will appear in court on the child luring and sexual interference related charges on Wednesday, Jul. 19, 2023.
Additionally, after repeated requests, Kingston Police disclosed that Hockey’s Snapchat handle used to communicate with the child victim in the case above is “@sadboy.badboy,” with the username “Beazy.” The following photos were obtained from that account, which is publicly accessible.
