Kingston man arrested after violent assault outside downtown bar

A local man will appear in court to face assault charges after causing a violent altercation in downtown Kingston.
On Saturday, Jul. 31, 2021, at approximately 1:15 a.m., members of the Kingston Police Uniform Patrol Division received a call regarding an assault that was taking place at The Mansion bar and restaurant. According to police, a male victim was approached by the male suspect, who are known to one another. The suspect then violently attacked the victim, causing severe injuries. The suspect proceeded to assault another patron, who had stepped in and was attempting to help the first victim, before fleeing the area.
In a press release on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021, Kingston Police said that further investigation led to identifying the suspect as a 31-year-old Kingston man who, on Sunday, Aug. 1, 2021, turned himself in to Kingston Police. That suspect has been charged with two counts of assault and was released with conditions and a future court date.
