Kingston man arrested after threatening behaviour online

A local man has been arrested after Kingston Police tracked him down and engaged in a period of negotiations earlier today.

At approximately 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020, police learned that the accused man had been making death threats via social media. It is unknown who the man was threatening, according to police.

As police were unaware of the man’s location, they searched various locations throughout the city before finally locating his vehicle at a residence on Unity Road. Kingston Police Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit responded to the location, where police engaged in a period of negotiations with the man before ultimately arresting him without incident at approximately 1 p.m. He was taken to Kingston Police Headquarters where he will be held to attend a bail hearing tomorrow.

The 56-year-old Kingston man has been charged with uttering a death threat.
