Kingston man arrested after punching mirror off unmarked police cruiser

A Kingston Police cruiser is damaged and a local man charged after the two met by chance and the man decided to strike the cruiser after yelling at the officers inside.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jul. 23, 2019, after the accused man was observed by police walking westbound across Montreal Street through traffic near Joseph Street. As police watched, a northbound vehicle had to suddenly brake as the accused man was crossing in an area with no marked crosswalk.
The officers, who were operating an unmarked police vehicle and travelling southbound on Montreal Street, were approached by the accused man, who yelled derogatory remarks at them. The man then proceeded to punch the side mirror of the cruiser, causing it to break off and fall from its frame, Kingston Police said in a press release on Wednesday, Jul. 24, 2019.
As police turned their vehicle around, the accused man entered a business in the area. When he came out of the business shortly thereafter, the accused man was arrested.
