A local man is facing multiple charges after a confrontation turned violent at a downtown apartment.
According to Kingston Police, the incident occurred on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2019 when, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the accused man and the male victim got into an argument at the victims apartment on Montreal Street between Queen and Princess Streets. The accused man was upset that the victim had allegedly made advances towards his girlfriend.
During the argument, the accused man brandished a machete and struck the victim in the side of the face with the blunt end of the weapon. The victim’s friends intervened, breaking up the fight. The accused man was asked to leave and did so.
Police were called and, at approximately 11:05 p.m., responding officers located the accused man at his apartment, which is located in the same building. When he was searched, police found the accused man also had a replica-style handgun in the waistband of his pants.
The 28-year-old Kingston man was charged with assault, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a weapon for committing an offence.
