During the season of giving, Bennett’s Furniture & Mattresses are getting into the spirit. This week, the family-owned and operated business is holding fundraising events at their stores in Campbellford, Peterborough, and here in Kingston.

According to a release from Bennett’s, the funds raised at the Designer Tree Benefit events will go to three “local” hospital organizations — PRHC Foundation, Campbellford Memorial Hospital Foundation, and the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation.

“Bennett’s has always been fond of supporting local health organizations. We know our hospitals are in need of support after the pandemic and thought this was a prime opportunity,” Jacob Dajka of Bennett’s Advertising & Purchasing Office told Kingstonist in an email.

On Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., the Kingston store (2376 Princess Street) will hold its in-store benefit. According to Dajka, this is the first year for this event, but Bennett’s plans to make it an annual one. This year, the company hopes to raise over $50,000.

By purchasing a ticket, attendees are entered into the draw for a chance to win a designer Christmas tree, decorated by Bennett’s interior decorator, Janelle Downey Yigit. Eight trees are to be won per Bennett’s location, and the company will deliver the tree to the winner’s home, provided they reside within the store’s regular delivery area.

The benefit evening also includes local food and beverage vendors providing samples, and a silent auction.

“You can have your photo professionally taken in our Christmas display and take advantage of an exclusive one-night-only shopping surprise; all while being entertained by live festive music,” Dajka said.

The Christmas Belles will be performing throughout the evening, and the tree draws will take place in-store during the event.

Tickets are available to purchase at Bennett’s. $25 will purchase an entry into the draw for the designer trees, and a $50 ticket allows entry to the holiday event.
