Kingston driver over legal limit arrested for impaired driving in Picton

A Kingston man is facing charges after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possible impaired driver on Main Street in Picton.

Shortly after 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, officers received the report of a possible impaired driver. According to a release from the OPP, officers located the vehicle on County Road 1, and the driver was arrested and taken to detachment for further testing.

As a result, Alexander Wales, age 21, from Kingston, was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus

Wales was released on an undertaking and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice later this month. They also had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for a period of seven days. They will be responsible for all related fees and fines
