Kingston driver facing charges after providing OPP with false ID

A Kingston man is facing charges after offering Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers a fake ID during a traffic stop in Prince Edward County.

Shortly after 1 a.m. on Thursday, Apr. 22, 2021, officers from the OPP Prince Edward County Detachment conducted a traffic stop on County Road 1 in Hallowell Ward.

According to a release from OPP, dated Thursday, Apr. 22, 2021, the driver initially provided officers with false identification. The accused was eventually identified by officers and was arrested as a result.

Randy Vankoughnett, age 36 from Kingston, was charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Obstruct peace officer
  • Failure to comply with release order

Vankoughnett was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton in May, 2021.
