Teddy Bear Hospital

The annual Teddy Bear Hospital will be open at the Museum of Health Care this Family Day. The event will take place at the museum, located at 32 George Street, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will include hands-on activities and crafts suitable for all children aged 10 and under, according to a release from the museum. Be ready to learn, laugh, and find out why doctors and hospitals aren’t so scary after all!

The Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning is offering a few Family Day activities and events this year.

The organization is partnering with Draw by Night Kingston for a social drawing party. Whether you’re a doodler or a sketcher, there’s something for everyone. Bring the family for a day filled with laughter, art, and creative exploration!

Kingston Handloom Weavers & Spinners will be on hand, giving the public the chance to try out a weaving activity.

Face painting will be offered by Theatre Kingston.

The Kingston Potters Guild is holding a mosaic activity in its studio. Visitors have the opportunity to paint a piece of a historic mosaic, or simply take home a glazed piece of mosaic, created for the ceramic art installation at the Richardson Bathhouse.

“This event is free for all ages and will take place in multiple spaces throughout the Tett,” Brandon Elderhorst, Facility Assistant & Volunteer Coordinator for the Tett Centre, said in response to Kingstonist inquiries about the cost of these events.

“There will also be staff and volunteers from Draw by Night and the Tett to help visitors navigate the building and help with the activities.”

Loyalist Township hosting activities in Amherstview

Free skating, balloon animals, tattoos, LEGO, and other fun activities will be waiting for families to enjoy. The Fire Department will be on site outside with fire trucks, and swag bags, ready for photos, and you’ll find oversized games and bouncy castles. Don’t forget to warm up with free hot chocolate in the lobby!

Lunar New Year events in downtown Kingston

While not strictly a collection of “Family Day activities”, the Downtown Kingston Business Improvement Area is holding Lunar New Year celebrations from Feb 10 to 24 in the downtown core.

On the Family Day weekend, Midori Gifts is holding two Asian-inspired art workshops for kids and adults alike. Find details on both workshops on Midori’s website.

Most of the Lunar New Year celebrations will take place the weekend of Feb 10 and 11, but downtown Kingston is always fun, even in winter. Take a free skate around the Springer Market Square rink and enjoy the fire pits every weekend. The Horizon sound and light installation will be active all month, as well. Read more about that here.

Get active across the city

On Monday, Feb. 19, 2024, City of Kingston recreation facilities will be open for various programs and activities. According to the City, it will offer programming at its facilities across the city, including swimming, skating, fitness classes and gym programs.

Pre-registration is required for most programs. See what’s available here.
